According to CNN.com, "The cherry blossom trees were a gift of friendship to the U.S. government from Japan in 1912."The trees only bloom for two weeks and do not actually produce the cherry fruit, as you might think. Cities across the nation feature Cherry Blossom festivals, including Macon, Georgia, Newark, New Jersey and Brooklyn, New York. Get out there and see them if you can before their petals fall.
